New logo design!

This week I was able to finish the logo design for a kitchenware company. Many sketches later this was the result.

I used both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator as design programs. According to the email I received, they seemed satisfied and as long as they are happy, I am too. Since I just barely finished the logo, it might take a few days for them to upload it on the website. If you are interested in looking up what they sell, check out their website here. They sell utensils, mixers, pressure cookers and lots more. I can't wait to see how the logo will look on their home page!

Pantry Labels

For the longest time I wanted to label all the stuff I have in my pantry.

I've been trying to be a little more organized because my place really needs it. So, what better way to do that then by making some cool looking labels. I started my design in Adobe Illustrator (love that program) because it is great for vector art. Once I had the look I wanted I brought it into my Silhouette program. I added the names of the items in my pantry and had it printed on a silver foil paper that Silhouette sells. This is what they looked like.

So far I have some of the bigger containers labeled. Once I am done with all of those, I will start on the spices. I also plan on putting a small label at the bottom of the containers with the date that I bought the ingredients. So far I really like how they are turning out. I will post again when I finish my pantry.

Valentine's Day note

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. With my husband busy with school and work, I wanted to do something fun and special. So we had both decided that we wanted to do a movie night because it had been a long time since we had done that. My husband and I don't like to go out and eat when we know that most restaurants were going to be noisy, crowded, and long wait time for food. I made a yummy but light dinner and then I gave him his gift. His gift was a big basket with all his favorite treats and a new belt, plus a wallet that he REALLY needed.

The craft for the day were these cute Valentine's Day notes.

I have these really adorable cardstock papers that are 6in x 6in. I was able to make two notes from each paper.

Earlier this week I went to Walmart and bought a roll of ribbon and a roll of decorated tape.

After cutting the ribbon and tape to the right size, I added some paper hearts I had cut out and a rhinestone. In some notes I added words like love, kisses or hugs. I tied my husband's note on his surprise basket.

Cute, don't you think?

Logos

So about two years ago one of my husband's friends started an IT company called ITenlight.
He asked me to create a logo and a business card design. I was glad to do it and it was a fun process. This is the logo I made.

Today I received an email from the same guy who referred me to another friend. It seems like I will be making more logos! I have done a few others since then but I don't normally advertise myself as a logo designer. It feels great when you know you did an awesome job and people are willing to refer you to others. I hope to post some of my ideas here real soon!

Bird Theme

So, it's not like I have some kind of obsession with birds or anything. I just like drawing them sometimes. I mentioned earlier that I wanted to have a bird theme going on in my living room. Just a couple of birds here and there.

The other day I searched for some living room artwork and found a bunch of abstract art. Now, abstract is not my thing(It depends on my mood). Lots of people like it and good for them but I rather stick to things that make sense to me. For me to like an abstract piece, there has to be an attractive color scheme. It has to compliment the rest of the room. I've seen beautiful pieces before that seem to make up some kind of scenery without definite lines or figures. My favorite abstract pieces are the ones that highlight a certain element in the composition.

To give you an idea of what I am talking about, I found these cool pieces on depositphotos.com

Here's a piece that just ties in all the neutrals in the room.
It's from www.vi.sualize.us

So, I decided to make my own abstract painting. Since the colors I want for my living room are turquoise, aqua, gray, white and black, I came up with this
This is the background to my painting. It was my first try at it. Not bad, I guess.

Next I needed to add some embellishments.
I watered down the flourishes so it would take them back a little. I didn't want them to be the main focus.

Then I added a branch and my bird had to pop out some how. So I used newspaper and foam to cut out a bird. Once I glued the newspaper design on the foam, I added a glue dot to make the bird pop out. Last thing was to paint it's legs.

These pictures don't do it justice, in person the color are much better. It might not be the best art I have created but for now, I like it. It makes me grin and that's the important part.

Acrylic Wall Art

I love doing simple paintings to decorate my living room.

This was a fun and simple project. A friend of mine got me a bunch of small canvases and I was excited to start painting. After much thought, I decided to go with a bird and branch theme in my living room. So, I found a few reference pictures of birds sitting on branches and let my creative juices flow!

What do you think?

much love,

Hello Everyone!

I am excited to start blogging about my art work. It has been a while now since I have had the chance to show everyone what I love to do. I hope this blog will inspire creativity or just make you smile. It feels good to sit down with a brush, pencil, computer... or just any kind of tool and make something out of nothing. In this blog I hope to post the projects I will be doing each week. Some will be sewing projects, illustrations, or even home decor stuff. If there is anything that you would like a tutorial on, please let me know. Enjoy!
